Technical editing

I'm a certified crochet and knitting pattern technical editor. What does that mean for you?

Well, if you're a publisher, a yarn company or an individual designer, I can work with you to polish your patterns, making sure they're clear, accurate and consistent - in short, stitch-perfect - and ready for publication.

Technical editing involves making a number of checks, including:

  • stitch counts - making sure that everything adds up!

  • final measurements - does the garment/item your crochet or knitting pattern produces match the measurements given in the pattern?

  • ensuring that all pattern instructions are clear, concise and follow any house style standards

  • tension - is the tension correct?

  • making sure that any cm/inches conversions are correct

  • checking that the style of writing is consistent across the whole pattern.

If you'd like to see a detailed list of all the checks I make when tech editing a pattern, please ask!
